Score from Wednesday's Duel in Diego: CSU East Bay wins it in 5 sets! Brii Bryant, Ariel Ajagu, and newcomer Katie Allen put up some big numbers. 4th year seniors Lauren Massa and L-Town's very own Roxanne Neely made big contributions. I "watched" the game online, and nothin like yelling a a computer screen when the score was 12-11 in the 5th set haha
Question, what is more entertaining, watching a designated hitter hit a 430 foot home run, or watching a starting (or relief pitcher for that matter) try to make solid contact and make a productive out? I dunno, but I always enjoy watchin a starting pitcher awkwardly stand at home and take a hack or two. Even better, it is cool to see a pitcher get on base,or even better, see a REFIEF pitcher get on base. Heath Bell, the Padres closer, had the bases loaded in the top of the 9th the other night and lined out to right on a 3-2 count. That is always interesting. What do you think? How would college pitchers fair with 2, maybe 3 at bats each start?
They would probably be better than a lot of guys just because they have no pressure...if the pitcher gets out its ok because hes a pitcher...if johnny volk got 3 -4 at bats a start he would probably hit .874 with 5 home runs...probably
ReplyDeleteWell to be honest look at what the pitcher does when they don't get to swing the bat mostly. they have to play small ball and bunt about 86.5% of the time unless you are a JV or Wade LeBlanc but they will be called on to bunt more than hit. So why not let someone go up there with a weapon in their hand rather than a shield?
ReplyDeletehaha Trev, if you are talking about Johnny Volk, the created player on MLB The Show for PSP, then maybe...
ReplyDeleteNick, very true. 90% of the time, the pitcher on the mound is the beneficiary of a pitcher at the plate.
